CENTERVILLE, Wash. - William C. "Bill" Grassmyer, 68, of Centerville, Wash., died Saturday morning, July 21, 2012, at a hospital in Yakima, Wash.
He was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Belleville, to the late W. Clark and Pearl M. (Rothrock) Grassmyer.
He is survived by: his wife, Joyce (Sullens) Grassmyer, whom he married March 7, 1964; sons, Rick Grassmyer and wife, Tina, of Hillsboro, Ore., and Mark Grassmyer and wife, Christie, of Spokane, Wash.; two grandchildren, Ryan and Audrey; and siblings, Shirley Rebert and husband, Leon, of McClure, E. Richard Grassmyer and wife, Carole, of Milroy, Dorothy Snook and husband, Donald, of McClure, H. Eugene Grassmyer and wife, Karen, of Lewistown, Kenneth R. Grassmyer, of McClure and Janet Reeder and husband, Randy, of Bellefonte.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Wanda Grassmyer.
He grew up in Reedsville and graduated from Kish High School in 1961. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Wash.
Later, he worked at Martin-Marrietta Aluminum Plant until he retired in 1999.
An accomplished woodworker, he made lawn furniture and cedar chests in his shop at home. He also liked to spend time with his family and friends.
A memorial service was held on Aug. 4, 2012, at New Life Assembly of God, in Goldendale, Wash.
