MARYSVILLE, Ohio - Marc Burton Johnson, 59, of Marysville, Ohio, formerly of Burnham, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at The Cleveland Clinic.
He was born Sept. 24, 1952, in Lewistown, to the late Charles Burton and Janice Eleanor Mowery Johnson.
He is survived by: his compassionate and loving wife, Judy Wagner Johnson; two sons, Marc (Missy) Johnson Jr., of Woodstock, Ohio, and Matthew (Melissa) Johnson, of Clintonville, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Allison, Frank, Mack, Matthew, Josie, Magdalene, Meghan and Molly; two sisters, Barbara Mowery, of Clearfield, and Mary (Stanley) Ehrisman, of Mifflintown; one aunt, Leoma Wolfe, of Belleville; many nieces and nephews; brothers- and sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends; and members of New Dover United Methodist Church.
He also was predeceased by two brothers, James and Charles Johnson, and a sister, Charla Peachey.
A 1970 graduate of Chief Logan High School, in Burnham, he received an associate's degree in accounting from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del.
He was a retired associate of Nationwide Financial Services, in Columbus, where he worked as an information technology manager for more than 25 years.
A lifelong methodist, he was a member of New Dover United Methodist Church. He was a former member and youth pastor for St. Andrew United Methodist Church, in Gahanna, Ohio, and was also a member of Gideons International for many years.
Marc was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished fishing trips to Pennsylvania with family. A devoted family man, he will be lovingly remembered as a selfless leader and faithful servant.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at New Dover United Methodist Church.
Interment of ashes will be held after the service at Mount Herman Cemetery on Whitestone Road, Marysville, with the Rev. Dawn Swartz officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 E. Fifth St., Marysville.
