Library friends grateful for successful fundraiser

August 8, 2012
Lewistown Sentinel

To the editor:

The Friends of the Mifflin County Library would like to thank and give special acknowledgment to all of those involved with the doughnut fundraiser held this past June.

N/S Sweeties, again, did not disappoint with their fabulous doughnuts. We truly appreciate the extra trouble (and sleep deprivation?) Neil and Sharon went through in getting our orders ready despite their already full plate.

Thanks to our super-sorters and delivery persons - Brenda Funk, Sue Reigle, Sue Heimbach, and Kathy Weston - who drove all over the county to get the doughnuts where they needed to be on time.

Mary Gordon gets a special "thank you," as she outsold all of us combined. She gave up time with her grandchildren to sell, help make, and deliver orders, and I know we are all impressed and grateful for her selling ability.

And thank you, thank you to all who sold and ordered doughnuts.

Some may question the use or need of libraries anymore in this digital age. However, the truth is that while their role in a traditional sense may be evolving, they will continue to play an important part in communities for many years to come. And we thank those who recognize this fact for their enduring support of our efforts to keep our own library funded.
