Jacob E. ‘Jake’ Fisher

McCLURE - Jacob E. "Jake" Fisher, 39, of McClure, died on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, as a result of a vehicle accident in West Beaver Township, in Snyder County.

Born May 8, 1973, in Lewistown, he was the son of Walter E. and Janet L. (Henry) Fisher.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife and soul mate, Paula (Glick) Fisher, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1995.

He also is survived by: siblings, Amey R. Sgrignoli and husband, C. Michael, of Enola, Betsy A. Coldiron and husband, David P., of York, and Nathan S. Fisher, of Lewistown; father-in-law, Sherman L. Glick; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Susan A. Shank and husband, Thomas K., David C. Glick and wife, Jami L., and Christine G. Orwig and husband, James F.; 10 nieces and nephews; three great-nieces and -nephews; three foreign exchange students that were like his children, Derrick Djiemuratov, Irina Gazetkina and Ajay Djiemuratov.

Jake was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Kay M. Glick.

Jake was a 1991 graduate of Lewistown High School.

He was an A.I. technician for Select Sire Power Inc., serving Mifflin and Snyder counties. He owned The Fisher Farmstead and Fisher's Farmer's Market.

Jake was a member of Granville United Methodist Church.

Jake's passion was farming and caring for crops and his vegetables. Somehow, out of farming a dream took root. It was this dream that was the purpose of Jake's life. He also was a 4-H Beef Club leader for many years, a member of the Snyder County Farm Bureau and a member of the Pa. Vegetable Grower's Association.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Graham Fowler officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pa. Vegetable Growers Association, 815 Middle Rd, Richfield, PA 17086, a charity of one's choice, or to MCS Bank's trust fund in Jake's memory.
