HUNTINGDON - A countywide drug sweep netted eight suspects early Wednesday morning in Huntingdon County, Huntingdon County District Attorney George Zanic said.

About 30 drug-related charges were filed against nine individuals accused of distributing marijuana, cocaine and prescription medication throughout the area, Zanic said.

One suspect managed to elude the police sweep, officials said.

An arrest warrant for Skylar Heaster, 21, of 119 S. Division St., Mount Union, was issued Wednesday, officials said. He is wanted on charges of criminal use of a communication facility as well as delivery and possession charges for morphine.

Officials dubbed the operation a success after multiple low-level dealers were removed from county streets, Zanic said. The investigation is ongoing, he added.

"As of now, we're in the process of doing a search warrant that's spilled over in Kistler, Mifflin County," in conjunction with the Mifflin County Drug Task Force, Zanic said.

Law enforcement officials recovered crack and powdered cocaine, marijuana and prescription Clonazepam and Vicodin pills from the suspects, Zanic said. Officials filed charges against multiple suspects stemming from previous police raids last year, he said.

About 40 police officers from multiple law enforcement agencies, including state police, the Huntingdon County Drug Task Force and the Huntingdon County Sheriff's Department, participated in the sweep.

"This is something we've tried to do at least quarterly," Zanic said. "These investigations are always ongoing and a lot of these arrests stem from the arrests made in the last raid in December."

The eight arrested were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Douglas Gummo, officials said. Preliminary hearings are pending.
