TOPEKA, Kan. - James J. Thompson, 83, of Topeka, Kan., died peacefully in his sleep on July 11, 2012, at Plaza West Regional Health Center.
Born Feb. 1, 1929, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Thompson.
He lived with his parents throughout their lives and then subsequently lived with the families of his sister, Mary Ellen, and brother, Ron, until 2006. He then moved to Kansas to live with his niece, Debbie (Arthur) Thomas, in Rossville, Kan. Since 2008 he had been a resident at Plaza West, where he loved everyone he met and was treated exceptionally well.
James is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Burych and husband, John, of Tampa, Fla., and his sisters in law, Nancy and Beth Thompson. He was preceded in death by his three brothers: Thomas Jr., Ron and Kit Thompson.
A memorial service was held Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Plaza West, Topeka, Kan.
