John A. Richard

LEWISTOWN - John A. Richard, 70, of U.S. Highway 522 North, Lewistown, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at his home.

Born March 29, 1942, in Derry Township, he was the son of the late Russell J. and Mary K. (Shirk) Richard Kaltreider.

John is survived by: his son, Russell B. Richard and wife, Michelle, of Lewistown; his daughter, Trina R. Palm and fiance, Paul Turner, of Bedford; grandchildren, Tia Askerneese, Tyler Richard, Tara Elliott, William Elliott Jr. and Taylor Richard; and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Smith and husband, Paul, Donna Heyne and husband, Delano, Janet Goss and husband, Clinton, all of York, and his stepbrother, Mark Kaltreider, of York.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1963 to 1966.

John was employed in the maintenance department at Standard Steel, in Burnham, retiring due to disability in 1992.

He attended the Maitland Church of the Brethren and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local 1940.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.

Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, where graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
