Vivian D. Beckenbaugh

LEWISTOWN - Vivian D. Beckenbaugh, 85, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by those who loved her deeply, on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at her residence.

Born Oct. 16, 1926, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Sophia (Peck) Long.

Vivian was preceded in death by her first husband, John Bratton, in 1967, and her second husband, Harold L. Beckenbaugh, in 2000. She was also preceded by a sister, Louise Wagner, a granddaughter, Cynthia Ann Bratton and a great-grandson, Ryan Hoffman.

Vivian is survived by: her children, John Bratton and wife, Jan, of Christiana, Janet Schlegel and husband, Steve, of Lewistown, and Charles Bratton, of McVeytown; stepson, Robert Beckenbaugh, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Shawn Bratton and wife, Merry, of Reedsville, Mikki Schlegel, of Lewistown, Beth Bratton, of Lewistown, Heather Bratton, of Huntington, Robert Beckenbaugh Jr., of Newton Hamilton, Jane Erb and husband, Daryl, of Belleville, and Lori Beckenbaugh, of Newton Hamilton; and 16 great- grandchildren.

Vivian was employed at L-Grief & Co., in Mount Union, and also retired after 20 years from the Penn State Department of Agriculture as a nutritionist from 1972-1992. She was a member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church.

Her greatest love was her family and her dear friends. She also loved the simple things in life, being close to nature and spending time at the family camp.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, 611 S Main St, Lewistown, PA, 17044, with Pastor Theresa Fink officiating. Interment will be private

Memorial contributions may be made to Grove Memorial United Methodist Church or Home Nursing Agency, 129 S Main St, Suite T, Lewistown, PA 17044.
