HONEY GROVE - Janice Hope Hurrell, 74, of Honey Grove, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at her home.
Born July 22, 1937, in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late James S. and Sarah M. (Reeder) Hurrell.
Surviving are: three children, Victoria D. Parks, of Scotland, Pa., Kurtz E. Hockenberry and Randy K. Hockenberry, both of Port Royal; three sisters, Maxine Camp, of Honey Grove, Helen Imes, of Mifflin, and Janet "Bonnie" Imes, of Port Royal; one brother, Norman Hurrell, of Dauphin; and she leaves behind two grandsons, Shannon L. Parks and Shawn F. Parks, as well as two great-grandchildren, Arizona Parks and Dawson Parks.
She was preceded in death by: one son, Larry S. Hockenberry, in 1994; three sisters, Nellie Fogleman, Emogene Fry and Hazel Ross; and three brothers, Harold Hurrell, Banks Hurrell, and Roland Hurrell.
Janice attended the Cross Keys Church of God and the Rock Assembly of God.
In earlier life, she provided personal care for the elderly, and later, from 1980 until 1996, she owned and operated Aprontree Personal Care, of Dry Run.
Her love of music shone brightly in her gift for playing the guitar. She also loved her cats and tending to her flowers.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012, at the East Waterford Cemetery, East Waterford, with Pastor David Stewart officiating. There will be no viewing.
