FREDERICK, Md. - Mifflin County dropped its final two games in Frederick, Md. in the wood bat tournament over the weekend.
On Saturday, the locals fell to Bristol, Conn. 10-0. Sunday, Mifflin County lost to Kane, N.H. by a tally of 7-4.
Saturday's game came down to the final innings. Bristol was able to put up seven runs on the locals in the final frame to claim the win. Mifflin County only had four hits in the ballgame.
"They had a guy that threw junk and we couldn't hit it," Mifflin County coach Larry Wolfe said. "We really are the story of a team on a losing streak. We just can't get hits when we need them."
Sunday's game was a little different. Mifflin County scored three runs in the first and carried a lead into the third inning. But some late errors cost Mifflin County in the 7-4 loss to Kane.
"We couldn't field a bunt," Wolfe said. "We probably had four of those errors on bunts when they were giving up an out."
Joey Knepp, Cy Treaster and Isaac Strohecker each had a pair of hits Sunday against Kane. Treaster, according to Wolfe, had a solid past four days.
"Cy had a really good tournament," Wolfe said. "We've been struggling to find runs and we moved him to leadoff and had a nice tournament."
