To the editor:
On May 29th, 2012 the Lewistown Intermediate School had their first ever Field Day. The 626 students, in 23 different classes, enjoyed 20 games and activities. The theme of the day was centered on the theme of "The Olympics," so these activities required a little help. This help included 100 + Parent volunteers, LIS teachers, and community members. Some of those community members were:
Rubles Concessions - who provided Snow Cones
The National Guard (Hawkeye Company, 2nd Battalion-112th Infantry, Stryker Brigade) who provided the favorite game all day, The Obstacle course
Downtown OIP who provided coupons for lunch for our volunteers and pizza boxes for a game
MCHS Art Students who did all the face painting
Forever Sick Tattoos who provided temporary tattoos
Chuck & Adrienne Zannino brought in their Golf cart to haul Water to all our water stations
Mike Baumgardner and Sandy Knoble - brought in a Rhino to haul water ice, and kids to and from the school
Weis and both the Burnham and Lewistown Giant stores - gift cards to purchase some needed items
Burger King, McDonald's, and Wendy's - cups for water stations
Mifflin County Soccer Club - generator
Brooklyn Fire Department chairs
Fame EMS - ICE
City Hook and Ladder - tables and their Fire Truck to cool off the kid at the end of the day
The Moose - ice and coolers
Dale Wilburn - DJ for playing some wonderful music and keeping us all on schedule
Deb Curry RN and Leah Shelley LPN - for extra TLC as need for the kids and making extra sunscreen rounds
MCSD - water jug from various school to help keep the kids cool on such a hot day
Mifflin County Middle School - for putting up with us all day in your "backyard."
And most importantly, to all the Parents who donated time their and sat in the sun all day to make sure EVERY kid had a great time.
We would like to send a HUGE Thank You to every one of them, because without their help we could not have created the "Best Day Ever" for the kids.
We hope to see you all next year.

Danielle Webb, PSA Field Day Chairperson
