To the editor:
The 148th Regiment Field Hospital and Venture Crew would like to thank the community for all of its help with our third annual "Sparks in the Park" event. More than 400 students were able to attend the Civil War Education Day on Friday, May 4, and the reenactment and living history demonstrations also were well attended throughout the weekend.
We would like to give special thanks to the following local businesses and organizations that donated their time and resources to help make the event such a success:
Barrett Enterprises, Beer & Soda City, Brannon & Royer, Burnham Lions Club, Campbell & Pine Orthodontics, Derry Township Board of Supervisors, Derry Township Fire Police, Derry Township Parks department, Terry & Vickey Beasom, Brian Williams & Fame EMS, Lewistown Creamery, Paul Macknair, Mifflin County Historical Society, Robert Richard State Farm Insurance, Dr. Smolcic's Dental Office, and Lewistown Walmart.
In addition we would like to thank all the reenactors who participated in this year's event. Your dedication to educating the public on Civil War history is to be commended and we so appreciate your service to that end.
