LEWISTOWN - Scott Carolus, of Lewistown, has started his own painting business, and says he's catering to those looking for low rates.

He said he likes to help people improve their properties and likes to help the elderly, the disabled or people who have financial difficulties.

Carolus is specializing in small jobs, such as one-story houses, garages, decks, fences and signs, and has photographs of prior jobs for the customer's inspection.

Scott Carolus, of Lewistown, has started his own painting business.

Rather than charging by the hour, Carolus has set rates for the entire job.

"If you're picturing a big time professional painter with big time equipment, that's basically not me," Carolus said. "I'm a pretty simple guy, but I guarantee satisfaction, and at the same time, I respect the value of people's budgets in this brutal economy."

Carolus said he does all jobs by contract, and is securing insurance.
