BURNHAM - Robert L. Ingram, an active member of many area committees, is the recipient of the 2012 Brotherhood Citation Award, presented annually by the Mifflin County Roundtable of Christians and Jews.

The announcement was made Thursday during a luncheon meeting hosted by the Roundtable at the Burnham OIP.

"I'm certainly not deserving of it," Ingram said upon receiving the recognition. "I do thank you."

Ingram, of Lewistown, is a member of the Chief Logan Lions Club. He is an active member of the Mifflin County Historical Society, where he has served as treasurer for the past 13 years. He also serves on the board of directors for the Mifflin County Industrial Development Corp. and the Mifflin-Juniata Area Agency on Aging.

He also served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and gave 43 years of service to Standard Steel as vice president of engineering.

Ingram is a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church. He is a Sunday school superintendent and teacher, and leader for junior and senior high youth. He's also a past president and member of the church council, and has served as chairman of the committee for the restoration and addition to the church. Furthermore, he has served as head usher, and is a member of the personnel and finance committees.

He also is a member of the Roundtable, where he has served as program committee chairman, and presently is a co-chairperson. Ingram is a supporter of the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata, the Salvation Army, the LUMINA Center, and other organizations.

Ingram graduated from Lewistown High School in 1948, and Penn State University in 1952, with a degree in industrial engineering. He has been married to his wife Helen for 58 years. He has one son, one daughter and three grandchildren.

"Bob has been an outstanding lifetime member of our community," a Roundtable statement said. "He is honest, trustworthy, reliable, hard-working, and has the highest moral and ethical standards."

The Mifflin County Roundtable of Christians and Jews honors a man, woman or group annually through the Brotherhood Award, which recognizes "the goodness of humankind." Award recipients demonstrate, through religious, community or other humane works, the qualities that embrace brotherhood. The award has been presented since 1952.

An awards dinner to honor Ingram will be held next month. The Mifflin County Roundtable of Christians and Jews can be contacted at P.O. Box 1136, Lewistown, PA 17044.
