A division of the Salvation Army, Santa’s Bookbag gives books to each child who appears on the Giving Tree. New books are purchased through monetary donations and new or slightly used book are collected during book drives held by area schools. Five hundred and ninety-eight children will be given books this year through the program. Anyone wishing to make monetary donations for the 2013 Santa’s Book Bag can mail it to The Sentinel c/o Santa’s Bookbag, P.O. Box 588, Lewistown, PA 17044.
