Parking changes for Penn State-Alabama game

September 8, 2011
The Associated Press , Lewistown Sentinel

STATE COLLEGE (AP) - Penn State is urging fans traveling to Happy Valley this weekend for the No. 23 Nittany Lions' game against No. 3 Alabama to prepare for changes in game day parking and traffic due to the wet weather.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee have dumped more rainfall this week on waterlogged Pennsylvania, with flood warnings and watches in effect for much of the state until Thursday night.

Some roads in and around Centre County have flooded. Penn State says grass fields surrounding Beaver Stadium generally used for vehicle parking for home games are saturated.

Fans may be relocated to park vehicles to areas with paved surfaces that may be farther away from the stadium, though shuttle service would be provided.

A sellout crowd of more than 108,000 is expected Saturday.
