BURNHAM - After training with her aunt for several months, Cherie Hannon decided it was time to open her own dog grooming business.

"She said come up and see if you like it and she trained me," Hannon said.

Hannon's aunt has years of experience, which she has imparted to her niece whose business has boomed since opening a month ago.

"I had over 150 clients. The only reason I know that is when I started I bought two hundred business cards, I'm down to about 50 now," she said.

"It took off more than I thought it would, I'm really glad it did," Hannon said.

"Do basic grooming, clipping, flea baths and medicated baths," Hannon said.

Hannon's grooming business on First Avenue in Burnham is stocked with professional equipment, including a waist high grooming table and miniature bathtub for easy access when working.

Hannon also has a back room where she has a high powered blow dryer that dries off the dogs after they have been bathed.

Hannon said for the most part she would prefer if customers would scheduled an appointment, but she will take walk-ins.
