LEWISTOWN -Open auditions for the annual Juniata RiverFEST Idol singing competition will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on May 18 and 26 at the Mifflin County Historic Courthouse in Lewistown.
RiverFEST Idol contestants must be 12 years of age and older and must have amateur status.
Auditions will be done a cappella, and all auditions will be videotaped and posted online.
Thirty semi-finalists will be chosen by judges, and semi-finals will be held on June 1.
Ten finalists will be selected by judges and will perform at Juniata RiverFEST from 3 to 5 p.m. on July 2. Finalists will sing along to a musical track.
First, second and third place performers will win awards and prizes.

Sponsors for the annual Juniata RiverFEST and fireworks display are being sought by the The Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau and Chamber of Commerce.
RiverFEST will take place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 2 at Victory Park, Lewistown.
RiverFEST is a fun-filled day with a River Rampage 5K, Juniata River Raft Regatta and Community Float, vendors, activities, "Rockin' by the River," including RiverFEST Idol, and entertainment all day on the Victory Park stage.
The annual fireworks will be set off in front of the MCIDC building again this year at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The independence celebration draws more than 10,000 people to Victory Park throughout the day. Sponsors will be acknowledged at the event, during the "Rockin' by the River" as well as on a sponsor board located within Victory Park.
