LAMAR - Krislund Camp and Conference Center recently celebrated the opening of a 4,000 square foot Fellowship Lodge for youth and adults throughout Central Pennsylvania.
The facility is the result of 12 months of concentrated volunteer labor, drawing workers from places like Tyrone, Allensville, Philipsburg, Lewistown, Bellwood, Clearfield, State College, Williamsport, Lock Haven, Carlisle and Harrisburg.

A new Fellowship Lodge is now open for use at the Krislund Camp and Conference Center in Lamar. Volunteers built the new facility using recycled materials from the camp.
In recognition of the more than 25,000 hours of donated volunteer time, Krislund property manager Kent Rishel said the workers saved the camp over half the cost of the building.
Using materials recycled from the demolition of four old youth cabins, volunteers turned old floor boards into wood trim for doors and windows, created wainscoting from used knotty pine and built walls from recycled 2x4s. The balance of the building costs were donated by private donors.
In addition to building the facility from the foundation to the roof, the volunteers also built full sized bunks, re-upholstered furniture donated from a local hotel, landscaped the site, and added the finishing touches that make the lodge a modern, comfortable, handicapped accessible, versatile retreat center.
The Fellowship Lodge has four attached bunkrooms each equipped with full-size mattresses, two sleeper sofas, a large meeting table with eight chairs, a walk-in closet, private bathrooms and individually controlled heating and air conditioning. The lodge has a full kitchen and a large meeting space. The stone fireplace provides a centerpiece for the great room, and the spacious deck has Adirondack chairs for guests to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Krislund is a ministry of the Presbyterian Churches of Central Pennsylvania and is situated on 875 acres of mountain valley land between Lamar and Madisonburg. Founded in 1963, the camp and conference center offers year-round lodging and meeting spaces. Krislund facilities are available for church, civic and educational groups as well as families and businesses.
