Phelan announces campaign for auditor

MIFFLINTOWN - Nancy H. Phelan has announced her intention to seek election for the position of county auditor. Phelan said she will be running on the Republican ticket.

Phelan said she is a retired teacher having taught for 35 years in the Juniata County School District. After retirement, she filled the position of elementary substitute teacher for two years. For the 2008-2009 school year, Nancy worked in the district as an Educational Assistance Program tutor at Mountain View Elementary School, helping third, fourth, and fifth grade students to improve scores in the areas of reading and math on the PSSA.

Phelan said she is an active member of the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church in McAlisterville. Phelan said he presently serves as a praise team leader, as a member of the Christian Ed. Committee, and as a member of "Angels of Mercy", an outreach ministry comprised of women.

"I am ready for a new challenge and an opportunity to serve the people of Juniata County. I feel I have the skills needed to learn and fulfill the duties of this position. Your support in the Primary Election on May 17th will be greatly appreciated," Phelan said.
