He said he worked at New Holland for close to 15 years and was enticed to make a career change when the plant closed.

Swanger said it was easy for him to make the choice to change careers when he heard about the plant closing, because he was already involved with home nursing care and decided that was the career for him.

Swanger said he is a 2009 graduate of Central Pennsylvania School of Science and technology nursing program, with clinical education at Mount Nittany Medical Center, knowing he intended to seek the office of Coroner when the opportunity became available.

He spent his final semester of schooling at the Trauma care, assisting in numerous trauma care situations, Swanger said.

Swanger is currently employed at Golden Living center in Lewistown as a Charge nurse, which he says puts him one block from Lewistown Hospital and makes him easily accessible, when needed to perform his duties as Coroner.

Swanger contend that if elected he will provide the community with a friendly, professional and compassionate office, looking at ways of decreasing spending. He also said he will work well with the staff and other elected officials to provide the county with what it deserves.

Swanger said he believes every has impacted our community and society, as well as the lives as others, no matter how big or how small and they deserve respect and dignity in the event of a tragedy.

Swanger said he and the other members of his team will hold those same values, as well as compassion for the families.
