Celebrate EMS week

May 21, 2010
Lewistown Sentinel

When you dial 911 with a medical emergency, they're often the ones who show up. They work 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days each year because heart attacks, strokes and other serious medical situations don't take a day off or wait until the next morning. They are there when we need them or on standby just in case their help might be necessary.

I'm talking, of course, about emergency medical services personnel.

May 16 through May 22 marks EMS week. It's seven days to take notice and show appreciation for what EMS personnel do year round.

Two words describe what these professionals do day in and day out: save lives.

For everything they've done and the fact that they are there if we need them in the future, I ask you to join me in recognizing these valiant public servants. If you see an EMS worker this week, please stop them to say "thank you."
