LEWISTOWN - For the avid golfer who wants to help fund cancer research, the American Cancer Society 2010 Golf Pass is the solution.

For a minimum donation of $30, golfers can purchase a pass that entitles the bearer to a free or discounted round of golf at 103 different participating courses in Pennsylvania and New York. The market value for this pass is estimated by the ACS at well over $3,000.

The area courses at which the pass is honored include Lewistown Country Club, Lost Creek Golf Club (Oakland Mills), Shade Mountain Golf Course (Middleburg), American Legion Country Club (Mount Union), Freestone Golf Course (Port Matilda), Huntingdon Country Club, the Penn State Golf Courses (State College), the Philipsburg Elks Lodge & Country Club, Standing Stone Golf Club (Huntingdon) and the State College Elks Country Club (Boalsburg).

Tee times are mandatory and must be made no later than 48 hours in advance. Golf cart rental also is required for those using the pass. Each pass is valid for each course's entire 2010 golf season (April 1-Oct. 31) unless otherwise noted by the course. Other restrictions may apply.

To purchase a 2010 Golf Pass, contact your local office of the American Cancer Society or call (888) 227-5445. Quantities are limited.

The ACS also is looking for assistance in selling the passes. For every $150 in donations collected, each seller is given one free golf pass.

All funds raised from sales of the golf pass benefit the American Cancer Society. The mission of the ACS is "helping you stay well, helping you get well by finding cures and by fighting back."

For more information, call (800) 227-2345 or log onto www.cancer.org.
