I'm a product of the 60s. Don't hold it against me. I was a teenager when liberals changed the world.
There were hippies in Haight Ashbury espousing drugs and free love. I always figured I was dopey enough as is. So I never really got into the drug scene.
As for free love, it wasn't really free. It brought us many new STDs. It created an atmosphere that caused countless divorces. It dehumanized people and made us no better than the animal kingdom.
The hippies gave us Charles Manson. They gave us a legacy of long hair, tye died t-shirts, and Woodstock. Thank God for the hippies.
Then there were the Vietnam protestors. Today we have tea parties where people listen to speakers and music. They carry signs and protest respectfully. Those bad, bad people.
The peaceful Vietnam protestors often took over the offices of university presidents. Sometimes they trashed university libraries. Often they started riots and turned over cars and burned them. They tried repeatedly to shut down Washington with their protests. They charged National Guardsmen and threw bricks and bottles at them. They thought they changed the world. They probably did, but not for the better.
The progressive liberals were a pain in my butt then and they still are. They thought that their point of view or beliefs were paramount. They believed that they could and should act any way they wanted because they held beliefs that were superior. Bull.
These same protestors enjoyed themselves so much during their college years that they stayed. They are now the liberal progressive professors at today's universities.
These professors, who won't allow conservative points of view in their classes, yell the loudest about tolerance. Their diversity consists of agreeing with them. If you don't, you'll get a failing grade. They are aging, hippy misfits and do not represent main-stream America.
If we are to truly have diversity in this land, we must remove 50 percent of these nuts. All of the major universities in this country are at least 90 percent registered Democrats at the professor level. Republicans and independents make up 60 percent of the population. Why is it okay that they have 10 percent representation? I don't believe it is.
I love my country and the freedoms granted in our constitution; I don't love those who would use those freedoms to tear down our country.
My daughter attends a community college. Community colleges are usually not associated with liberal universities. An English professor assigned students a paper about the blacks' struggle for equality. One young man thought he'd write a paper from the Ku Klux Klan point of view just to engender discussion. The professor announced to the class that the young man failed. She went on to say that she hadn't even read the entire paper.
So much for tolerance and diversity.
