DILLSBURG - Joseph Robert Goss, 73, of Dillsburg, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born Nov. 28, 1935 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late William M. and Erma Rose (Williams) Goss.
Joe retired after 25 years of dedicated service from the Commonwealth of Pa., Department of Welfare. He was a graduate of Armagh-Brown High School, Milroy and attended the former Harrisburg University Center.
He was a member of VFW Post 6771, American Legion Post 26 both of Dillsburg; American Legion Post 287, Milroy, the Yellow Breeches Anglers Club, Trout Unlimited and Camp Savage. Joe was also a former member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Joe was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, however his greatest passion was spending time with his granddaughters and family.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years Lois A. (Packard) Goss; a son Craig J. Goss and his wife Suzanne of Mechanicsburg; a daughter Lori E. Goss and her husband Emilio Gonzalez of Washington, D.C.; four granddaughters Maddie and Abby Goss; Jade and Jordan Gonzalez-Goss; a sister Martha Jane Spearing of Reedsville and a brother Donald P. Goss of Lewistown.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his stepmother Anna Mary Goss and by a sister and three brothers.
Memorial services will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday June 9, 2009 at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg with a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
