William J. Snook Jr.

LEWISTOWN - William J. Snook Jr., 67, of Princeton Street, Lewistown passed away at 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at his residence.

Born March 15, 1942, in Burnham, he was the son of the late William J. and Mildred (Bubb) Snook Sr. Bill is survived by his wife Susan (Callahan) Snook, whom he married in 1964.

Surviving are: three children, William Snook and his wife Holly; Daniel Snook and his wife Robin, Douglas Snook and fiancee Stephanie, all of Lewistown; two sisters, Judy Knepp of Yeagertown and Helen Gesselman of Beavertown; grandchildren, Chad S. Snook, Tyler D. Snook, Rebecca A. Henry, Jessica Henry, Emmy M. Snook and Gaven L. Snook.

He worked in the repair machinist shop of the Standard Steel for 39 years, retiring in 2004. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 143 Lewistown, American Legion Post No. 287 Milroy, a life member of Yeagertown Fire Company and a 1960 graduate of Chief Logan High School.

Bill enjoyed going on bus trips to Wildwood, N.J., with his wife Susan. He also enjoyed time with family and grandchildren. When he was younger he went camping, hunting and was an avid NASCAR fan. Bill coached McVeytown baseball for eleven years.

Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, at the Yeagertown United Methodist Church, with Rev. Thomas Morningstar officiating. Friends will be received from 5 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Mt. Rock Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his name to the American Cancer Association, 324 South Logan Blvd., Lewistown PA 17044.
