Dorothy B. Long

ROARING SPRING - Dorothy B. Long, 91, of Homewood at Martinsburg, died Tuesday morning at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.

She was born June 14, 1917, in Pittsburgh the daughter of the late Rubin A. and Gertrude (Stine) Ranck. She married Dr. Joseph P. Long August 20, 1991, in Harrisburg. Dr. Long died August 29, 2002.

Surviving are: two sisters, Louise Stoup, of Belleville, and Larue Dunmire and husband Marlin, of McVeytown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul A. Ranck and a sister, Naomi French.

She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring where she was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Long was a 1935 graduate of McVeytown Oliver High School, a 1939 graduate of the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, and received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing Education from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia in 1953.

She was a life member of the Jefferson Nurses Alumni Association. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing, but a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, in the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring with Pastor Marlys Hershberger officiating. Interment will be made in Holsinger Cemetery, Baker Summit.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory may be given to the Long Scholarship Fund c/o First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, 901 Bloomfield Street, Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
