NEWTON HAMILTON - A Mount Union man faces multiple charges after leading police on a high-speed chase early Saturday morning from Kistler to Newton Hamilton, Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown report.
Police said they first observed Rasheen Allen Ellis, 29, of Mount Union, around 1:16 a.m. as he ran a stop sign while driving a Chevrolet Cavalier in Kistler Borough. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Ellis fled from police, the report states.
According to the report, Ellis reached speeds in excess of 100 mph along Ferguson Valley Road while officers pursued him into Newton Hamilton Borough. At one point in the chase, Ellis attempted to turn onto state Route 103, but coming across a bridge he was unable to stop and his vehicle landed in a ditch, police said.
Ellis then attempted to flee from the scene on foot, but he was apprehended by the pursuing officers, the report states.
Multiple charges for drug possession, driving under the influence and attempting to flee from police - as well as numerous other motor vehicle violations - were filed against Ellis.
He was placed in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
