McVeytown man killed in accident
By TARA MAGUIRE Sentinel reporter tmaguire@lewistownsentinel.comNEWTON HAMILTON - A McVeytown man died Saturday night after his Jeep Cherokee struck a concrete barrier on state Route 747 South in Wayne Township, according to a press release issued by Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown Monday morning.
Police said Randy Lee Coy was traveling east on state Route 22 when he attempted to merge onto state Route 747 South. For unknown reasons, Coy failed to make the right curve and traveled across both lanes of state Route 747 at the intersection.
Coy was taken to J.C. Blair Hospital for treatment of his injuries, where he was later pronounced dead as a result of the injuries, police said.
Units that assisted on scene were Mount Union Fire Co., New Hamilton Fire Department and Mount Union EMS.
As of press time Monday, funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, and will be announced later.
