Union Elementary students, from left, Emma Mortimore, Elizabeth Yoder and Britney Spickler, greet the new school year with open arms Wednesday in Belleville. The girls, who are in second grade, shared a hug upon meeting in the school's parking lot prior to the start of classes. Both Mifflin and Juniata county school districts kicked off the 2008-2009 academic year Wednesday.
