BELLEVILLE– A local man who was severely injured in a vehicle accident involving a horse and buggy was life-flighted to Pittsburgh Friday night.

John B. Diffendefer, 54, of Mill Creek, lost control of his Ford truck on state Route 655 as he attempted to pass a horse and buggy at 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown. Diffendefer’s vehicle traveled off the edge of the road onto an embankment and came to an abrupt stop, police said.

Diffendefer was sent to Altoona Hospital, police said. A hospital spokesman said he was flown to Pittsburgh Friday night. A spokesman at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center said Diffendefer was still being evaluated at press time Friday.
