Rendell to speak at Mifflin County event
Gov. Ed Rendell
LEWISTOWN — Gov. Ed Rendell will make a stop Saturday in Mifflin County to speak with area Democrats about the upcoming election. “I think it’s a very exciting thing to have (Rendell) speak at our event. Democrats really like him,” event organizer Teddie Snyder said. Rendell is slated to be the guest speaker for the Mifflin County Democratic Fall Dinner scheduled for Oct. 25 at the Lewistown Moose Family Center. Snyder said the “charismatic speaker” will be in town to “get the vote out for the Democrats.” Joanne Tosti-Vasey, candidate for state Representative in the 171st Legislative District, and Mark McCracken, candidate for U.S. Representative in the 5th Congressional District, also are expected to attend, Snyder said. Rendell is expected to arrive early and speak for about 30 minutes, Synder said. “I would say he is going to get here around 6-6:30 p.m. — but politicians have a knack for being late,” she said. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.
