BELLEVILLE — In the sixth inning Friday night, the Big Valley 11-12 Little League All-Stars recorded all three outs on the base paths. That told the story for Big Valley, which was behind by only three runs going into the sixth against State College American — but trailed by three more after the sixth, falling 6-0 in the District 5 elimination contest. Big Valley finished with a 3-2 record in the tournament. State College had three hits in the sixth against three different Big Valley pitchers. Rodney Patterson started for Big Valley and pitched to three batters in the sixth before being removed because he reached the pitch count limit. Sam Kauffman pitched to one batter and gave up a walk before giving way to John Michael Maclay. Kenny Craig greeted Maclay with a two-run double, making it a 6-0 game. Big Valley got all of its outs in the sixth inning by cutting down base runners.
