Thank you to supporters of National Night Out

To the editor:

The Borough of Lewistown’s National Night Out 2019 was a concerted effort by police departments, fire services, emergency medical services, private businesses, social service agencies, civic groups, clubs and state agencies including the Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Everyone involved in this event gave abundantly of themselves and their time, talents and funds to make the 2019 NNO event the largest and best one yet. They went out of their way to provide a venue to strengthen our community relationships and to brighten the lives of some young people with giveaways and activities.

Pastor Randy Hughes, First United Methodist Church and a veteran of several National Night Out events, opened the event with an inspiring invocation. Thank you Pastor Hughes for your care of and commitment to our community.

A huge “thank you” to the Lewistown Giant Food Store, manager Denise Ream and the entire Giant crew. They graciously provided hot dogs, bottled water and cake free for everyone to enjoy. They also set a record by serving 1,008 hot dogs. Thank you to Giant Food Store Lewistown for your care and commitment to our community.

The Seven Mountains Jeeps and their fearless leader Tim Yohn once again dedicated numerous hours in preparation for this event and to the event itself. The Seven Mountains Jeeps members donated several bicycles that were given away during a free raffle. Seven Mountains Jeeps are committed to our community and are involved with a several other local charity events such as the annual Salvation Army’s Toy Run and the Protection 4 Paws. Thank you Seven Mountains Jeeps.

The Keystone State Muscle Cars, Time Drake and Jack Bigelow put together some awesome stuff for the free raffle including a bicycle. Time and Jack worked vigorously before and during the event to provide a great display of muscle cars and an awesome drag strip.

To the Fame EMS, thank you for your participation and for the “brain freeze” caused by the wonderful snow cones that were provided. They really were a welcomed relief from the hot and humid weather conditions during the event.

Mr. Chad Johnson, “The Brooklyn Boyz.” What a terrific service you did for our community. The role you played as DJ and emcee were exemplary and impressive. Thank you Chad and crew.

Scott Hess, owner of Hess Tire and Auto Parts graciously donated new National Night Out banners that were placed throughout the area to advertise the event. Thank you Scott.

Senator Jake Corman’s donation and sponsorship of 500 official NNO balloons was a big hit. Thank you Senator Corman for your support and commitment to our community.

Luke Lake of the Lake Dealerships kindly donated a bicycle for the free raffle. Thank you Luke for your commitment to our community and your support of our National Night Out event.

Ron Miller of Snedeker Energy/Valero has donated the ice needed to keep NNO cooled down for the past several years. This year again Ron donated the ice for the entire event. Thank you Ron for your support and generosity.

Thank you to Shawn Seacrist manager of the Middleswarth Potato Chip distributorship who donated 300 bags of Middleswarth chips. Thank you for your support over the past several years.

New participant to this year’s NNO, ZTM Rental. The great folks at ZMT Rental provided free popcorn for everyone attending the event. Thank you ZTM Rental.

The All American Cruisers, thank you for your participation and the donation of two bicycles for the free raffle. Ron Wagner and Brenda Cross members of the cruisers donated a bicycle also.

Richy Royer of Brannon and Royer has been provided the portable comfort stations for our event for several years. Again this year Mr. Royer has gone out of his way to provide by way of donation this vital service. Thank you.

Bill Farleman, owner of Lewistown Welding Supply donated a large helium tank for the NNO balloons. Thank you Bill for your donation.
