Recent letter is indicative of mentality of liberals

To the editor:

A letter recently published by a Mr. Geedey (Editor’s note: That letter was published in Monday’s edition) should be used as a prime example of the liberal mentality that is eroding our country.

His claim that Venezuela should not be used as an example of failed socialism due to its leader being a dictator is laughable. Referring to western European countries that thrive as democratic socialist, Mr. Geedey failed to mention that these countries don’t identify themselves in this manner simply because in reality, Mr. Geedey, you can’t have it both ways.

Mr. Geedey also stated that Democrats want every person to have an equal opportunity to succeed. If I’m not mistaken, we already have that in our country.

But you have to want it bad enough to work for it and not expect your government to give it to you for free. Wake up call, Mr. Geedey! There is nothing free in this country or any other. Somewhere down the line, someone has to pay for the benefits that Democrats want to offer as an enticement to receive votes in order to remain in office or be elected to a government office.

Mr. Geedey also mentioned that there were 39,000 gun deaths each year that Republicans seem to ignore. Does this number include accidental deaths from each state? Does it mention the fact that gun related deaths come from cities and states that are Democratically controlled? Of course not. State all of the facts, Mr. Geedey, and not just the ones that suit your narrative.

Finally, Mr. Geedey claims that Republicans must be without morals for not wanting to allow people seeking refuge into our country. We in fact welcome all those who come here legally. That seems to be the word that Democrats fail to recognize.
