Enjoy great music and help the library on April 4

To the editor:

Mifflin County has many treasures — the Embassy Theater, the McCoy House Museum, the Stone Arch Bridge, Victory Park and that’s just to name a few. Along with those mentioned, one can list the treasures of our surrounding natural beauty in the form of mountains, forests, waterways, state parks and so much more.

As a member of the Friends of the Mifflin County Library, I want to call your attention to another well-known treasure of Mifflin County that I am sure all are familiar with, though that bears being mentioned again.

At 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 in the Lewistown Middle School, the Mifflin County Community Band will present an evening of fine music free! Of course, donations will gladly be accepted and in Friends of the Library style, passed on to the library toward the fulfillment of their most recent wish list.

I would hope our community is aware of this treasure that is our community band. We can see them at the annual Festival of Ice, Let Freedom Ring concert for the July 4 holiday, picnics, carnivals, block parties and so much more.

The point of this letter is to encourage one and all, young and old, to mark your calendars for the April 4 concert. Come out and show your support for these dedicated musicians. They are so giving of their time and talents, free gratis, to assist the Friends in the financial advocacy of our library. I would be remiss in also noting that the singing group Eight to the Bar will provide some delightful musical entertainment that evening.

Hope to see you at 7 p.m. on April 4.
