Preventon board thanks community for support

To the editor:

The Juniata County Prevention Board would like to thank those individuals and agencies who helped to make the Community Round Table events possible.

These events were held in order to educate the community about youth drug and alcohol trends in our county, and to provide support for those seeking assistance. First and foremost, we thank the county commissioners, Alice Gray, Todd Graybill and Mark Partner for their continued support of substance use prevention and intervention and their genuine concern for the health and safety of the residents in Juniata County.

Additionally, these events would not have been possible were it not for the facilities that hosted, donating their space and snacks as well. Specifically, Donna Brothers with the Port Royal Community Building, Dale Maneval with the Richfield Fire Company and Chris Yarnell with Lack Tuscarora EMS. These individuals went out of their way to make sure their buildings were ready and accommodating.

Thanks also to Allen Weaver of Juniata County Emergency Services for his help in organizing the facilities. We thank Sgt. Daniel Sneath and Cpl. Michael Elder of the Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown Barracks for moderating the events. A great number of local agencies gave their time to speak and/or be represented at each of the three Community Round Tables: Juniata County Probation and Parole, Tri County Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission, Juniata Valley Behavioral and Developmental Services, Clear Concepts Counseling, Port Royal EMS, Life Recovery Ministries, Juniata County School District, District Attorney Cory Snook, Tri County Crisis, SAM Inc., Mifflin Juniata Human Services, United Way of Mifflin-Juniata, Juniata County Head Start/Early Head Start, Juniata County Sheriff’s Office, Juniata County Children and Youth, Brighter Visions Counseling, Primary Health Network and Juniata County Coroner’s Office. The Juniata County Prevention Board whole-heartedly thanks these individuals and agencies, and the entire community for helping to make Juniata County safe, healthy and strong.
