Thanks for support of LUMINA Center auction

To the editor:

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and clients of the LUMINA Center, I would like to express sincere appreciation to the community members and businesses who donated their time, items and cash to help make our March 11 benefit auction a tremendous success.

The success of our center is rightfully attributed to the fact that our community has so generously supported our work not only through this auction, but throughout the years in various ways. Perhaps it was through a donation to the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata who in turn has supported and continues to support us as a United Way agency. Or, it may have been a donation — monetary or material — given directly to the LUMINA Center.

Many people have served and continue to serve as volunteers and without a doubt, volunteers serve as the foundation of our organization. The LUMINA Center has been blessed in countless ways, and we are very grateful to this, our community, that cares about its youth and families.

The LUMINA Center offers free program activities to all children and youth of Mifflin County as long as they are within the age limits of the particular activity. All activities are supervised by adults who have both criminal and child abuse clearances, in our facility that remains drug, alcohol and tobacco free. The community support of our work enables us to better fulfill our mission statement:

“LUMINA is a Community Center which offers the light of faith, hope and love ‘to,’ ‘for’ and ‘with’ the children, youth and families of Mifflin County in the name of Christ.”

Once again, thank you to everyone for your support of the center and your care for the children and youth of Mifflin County.
