Habitat seeking applicants to be new partner family

To the editor:

Habitat for Humanity of Mifflin County is urgently seeking applications for a partner family (homeowner) to partner for a build that will commence this spring and be completed before year end in Derry Township (Lewistown).

A partner family (homeowner) can be, but is not limited to, an individual, a married couple, or individuals in a relationship, young or old. Partner families may or may not include dependents (children, parents, grandchildren). The key is a household which has a need for adequate housing. Household size, income, financial situation and ability to pay are taken into consideration.

The usual time between application and move in is between 18 and 24 months. However, due to our need to start and finish this build in 2017, we are going to expedite this process. The selected partner household will be involved in the design of their new home and must invest 500 hours of “sweat equity.” If you have

applied in the past, please contact Habitat to update your information and reapply.

Habitat for Humanity of Mifflin County is a non-profit housing ministry that partners with low income households who need a hand up to help them earn their own home through both a realistic no-interest payment plan and through “sweat equity” work hours on their own and other Habitat homes.

Application information sessions are being scheduled in February and March. For information on dates and times or any other questions, please call 248-6461, or email info@mifflinhabitat.org and you will be contacted.
