Lewistown Community Band concert was success

To the editor:

Dear music and library lovers – By all accounts, despite rain, fog, and damp, the Lewistown Community Band concert to benefit the Friends of the Mifflin County Library was a rousing success. I’m so sorry a health issue precluded my attendance. Many thanks to all who made this event such a success!

We are most appreciative of the Community Band members for their time, talent and continued support. The Friends of the Mifflin County Library continue to be our supporters, advocates and volunteer time and abilities to raise money and community awareness. Jim Tunall is an extraordinary emcee and cheerleader. The Mifflin County School Board graciously provides the venue for the concert. We also extend our gratitude to the Mifflin County High School Interact Club and the Mifflin County Retired School Employees who served as greeters.

No event, including this concert, is ever successful without YOU, the attendees who listen, clap, cheer and donate. Thank you from the bottom to the top book shelf! The proceeds from this concert will be used toward the renovation of the library’s community room, a three-phase project.

French poet, Alphonse de Lamartine said, “Music is the literature of the heart.” The concert was a perfect way of combining music appreciation, love of literature and support for libraries.
