Thank you for support of annual Festival of Ice
To the editor:
With the 19th annual Festival of Ice a month behind us, The Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau takes this time to thank everyone who helped to make this year a success.
The good weather was certainly welcomed but without the sponsorships, the contributed goods and services, as well as individual investments of time, this community event wouldn’t happen. The official program published in the Dec. 1 Lewistown Sentinel listed 64 businesses and individuals as well as 50 ice sculpture sponsors – all deserving of thanks and recognition. You can see the list again on our Facebook page or we’ll send you a copy of the program if you call our office at 248-6713.
The Festival of Ice is the largest annual event that we host in partnership with the JRV Chamber of Commerce. Our goal is to create an attraction appealing enough to draw people into our area from the surrounding counties because, after all, that’s our mission.
We believe that the Festival of Ice has strong potential to be a drawing card for guests and visitors from surrounding counties but we need help in order to grow. We’re looking for additional volunteers that can add something new to the festival. Individuals, groups, churches, businesses are all welcome to step in and get involved.
A Festival Committee meeting will be held at noon on Thursday, Jan. 7 in the second floor meeting room of the Historic Courthouse. Everyone is welcome to attend and if you can’t make it but would like to be included in the conversation, contact us and we’ll add you to our email list. Together, we can make the Festival of Ice not only a source of pride for our community but also a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season for families and businesses alike.
