God was also very clear about his beliefs on how to treat your slave, how to not eat shellfish, things like that. So, I’m wondering why the religious right only seems to ever harp on the sex thing. What is the preoccupation?

You wanna talk about somebody that’s got this country screwed up in more ways than 20, it’s this Obama administration. Talk about a royal screw-up, he’s No. A1 at the top of the list.

How long, American citizens, ’til you revolt against this imperialistic president who’s out of control? He’s taking away your Constitutional rights. He doesn’t care about you. With executive orders, he does what he wants.

Is there any protection for the children of Mifflin County that come from broken homes? We need a new judge that will protect children.

I am that proud U.S. citizen of Port Royal, Pennsylvania. And, no, I don’t like races and I don’t like the fair. The hoodlums come to town. And I’ve lived in Port Royal 83 years. I was here long before your fair and your races, so maybe you should move that race track and your fair.

Republicans have all the attributes of morons. They’re two-faced and have no sense of reality.

I, too, live in the nice little town of Port Royal, Pennsylvania and I don’t care for the races, the dust and the noise, and I don’t care for the fair either. That doesn’t mean I have to move somewhere else. I have better things to do with my money than spend $20 or $30 on races on a Saturday night. That’s grocery money for most people for a couple of days.

Editor’s note: Mifflin County plays at Downingtown West on Sept. 13.

How many Burnham Borough workers does it take to paint white lines on the road on Logan Boulevard and Freedom Avenue …? This is our tax dollars at work.

I heard Tom Wolf say when he gets into office the thing he was gonna do was to make sure every person in Pennsylvania has Obamacare. I was really stupid to vote for Obama.

The good news is if your property taxes went up $346, that means you can afford to pay it.

I just want to say how nice it is to realize that there are still honest people who make the effort to return incorrectly counted change, even when it’s only $1.

If you’re really that concerned about your child riding the bus for an hour, an hour and 15 minutes and you live so close, get in your car and go and pick him up. Or better yet, if you’re really as close as you say, walk down to the school and get some exercise. It’s good for you.

The county commissioners are planning to consolidate the voting districts and that would entail changing the polling places where you vote. This is all to be done before this next election. … So, everybody who’s interested should show up. If not, even express their feelings before that to the commissioners. This will cause a lot of confusion for the election. People will not know where to vote.

Editor’s note: The Mifflin County Commissioners are conducting a meeting regarding consolidation of voting precincts in Lewistown Borough for November’s general election. The meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 9 in the main courtroom at the Mifflin County Courthouse, 20 N. Wayne St., Lewistown.

On the news here, they sent more presidential White House delegation members to the funeral of Michael Brown, but for Margaret Thatcher who died, they didn’t send but one person. Really they didn’t even represent the United States at her funeral. She was a big help and a big ally for that country. But to top it all, Jim Foley, the one that was beheaded, they did not send one person to his funeral, not one.

The school district has raised my taxes $349 this year. They better not ask for a raise.

We have just ended three days of school and already the kids are going door-to-door wanting to sell something. Everything’s very expensive. Property taxes just went up. Why do we need to be pestered with this already? There are some people that can’t afford this but hate to say no to little kids.

Could somebody please explain to me a police report? You put my brother’s name in for getting arrested in Mount Union … but there’s a 54-year-old guy that gets arrested from Mifflin who gets arrested for DUI and there’s no name. Why does my brother deserve more notorious information than this guy does?

Editor’s note: Police often withhold information from incident reports for a variety of reasons. When the police report contains a name, The Sentinel reports it in most circumstances.

I am proud to be a U.S. citizen of Port Royal, Pennsylvania. And you know what? This past week I didn’t have to clean my porch off because the races didn’t race. I wish they wouldn’t race every week. And that fair they’re bringing in? That brings nothing but hoodlums.

My complaint’s about the Mifflin County School District and the busing. I don’t live that far away from the school and every day it takes my child an hour, hour and 15 minutes to get home. It’s just downright ridiculous that these children are on the bus that length of time.

Do we not have any intelligent people in this Mifflin County School District? We are now busing special needs children to East Derry and now they have a playground that is not accessible to these handicapped children. Some of these kiddos are on buses and vans for at least an hour.

On the day that Obama was first sworn in, gas was $1.85 per gallon. I know this for a fact because I wrote it down that very day. Don’t anybody embarrass themselves by calling in and saying this isn’t true because it will publicly reveal your ignorance or your stupidity, take your pick.

If it was a white person, the white sheriff deputy would step in and that way we had no discussion or confusion on this racial mess like you have.

Why should I?have to call to report anything to the police? That is your job. That’s what you get paid for. Besides, you say it takes a lot of time. It’s been an eternity. I turn my Altoona news on and Altoona makes busts every day.

I see where some of the people have cleaned their yards up or tried to clean their yards up over here in Lumber City. I think it’s time that Mifflin County does something, Brown Township does something to these people out here.

As far as the rude bashing of the block party and fireworks and Mifflin Fire Department that was put on Facebook … I just want you to know the Mifflin Fire Department had no connection to these events. However, we were on a standby during the fireworks. Other than that, the person holding the block party and the fireworks is not a member of the Mifflin Fire Department.

As the Lewistown police chief said … they are waiting for reimbursment from grants that they have contracts with. They do the work, they submit for reimbursment and then they wait for a check just like you do when you work at your job. Haters, of course, see only what they want to see in an article.

I think the state police should be on the back roads where the speed limit is 35 miles an hour instead of being on the Lewistown bypass where it should be 70 miles an hour to begin with. Why aren’t they slowing these people down out in the country? Somebody’s gonna get hit by a car and hard to tell how far they’ll fly.

I live out here by the church in New Lancaster Valley and I hear the same dog barking that I think somebody else is hearing, but I can’t find the phone number for the dog law officer.

Editor’s note: Melissa Bair, the dog law officer for Mifflin and Juniata counties can be reached at 527-4016.

Well, I think some of these complaints about the mayor and the police are coming from another little area because they’re jealous of the police in here don’t fool around, don’t often take a lot of gump, they get to the problem. Now, as far as the mayor, she does a very good job, give her some credit here. … Give Lewistown a break.

I’d like to say good luck to the Mifflin County Huskies football team this year.

Funny how when you check the facts and speak with source representatives, you would be reminded that indeed the public is and has always been more than welcome to use the walking path at Philips. They simply request that the property be respected in the manner it is intended.

Mr. President, when, oh, when are you going to be man enough to take responsibility for your failures? Fast and Furious, Benghazi, IRS targeting, NSA snooping and Obamacare were all under your watch. You are neither a gentleman or a scholar. You are a community organizer who wouldn’t know how to organize a food drive if given the chance.

Mifflin County School District is a joke with these school schedules.

Isn’t it amazing that we are now bombing our own tanks and things that we left there for the Iraqi government who abandoned them when they walked away because they were afraid to fight ISIS? Now we’re bombing tanks with millions of dollars and different things we’re bombing. I think it’s ironic how our president and leaders in Washington work today. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I don’t think there’s any worse roads or alleys than in the borough of Lewistown. Their alleys are terrible, potholes, and some of their streets are kinda bad, too.

Think twice about throwing your fast food leftovers or whatever out the window of your car. Take it home with you and dispose of it properly.

It’s a sad day in this United States when the TV, the White House and Obama, his staff and everybody makes more to do about Robin Williams … committing suicide. You hear more about him than you do a two-star general that’s got killed and our troop, our Marine that’s in Mexico. You don’t care anything much about them, but you do a … movie star. Sad day.

The Kevin Ward Jr. accident is a tragedy. He should’ve stayed in his racecar and settled his dispute with Tony Stewart after the race was over.

I’d like to know why the mayor is not minding the store at the Lewistown Police Department. Why would you spend money that you don’t have?

I was wondering why the state even bothers to post speed limit signs. Nobody pays any attention to them anymore.

No wonder the taxes are so high in the borough. The police department can’t even spend within their own budget.

I think it’s time for the mayor to step up and take control of the police department and their spending habits.

We need speed control in this local area of Lewistown, especially at the bridges getting close to Rec Park. I have observed many of the trucks and cars coming by there, they’re not going 45. Most of them I would say are probably going 65 and 70 miles per hour. We need cops out there to take control of the area … and give these people tickets.

I’m calling about the person who’s called in about the dog in distress out in New Lancaster Valley. Why don’t you call the SPCA? If there’s a dog in distress, it needs to be taken care of now. Or unless you can call the police yourself, whatever, but call somebody.

Barack Obama made this statement on the Iraqi situation and I quote “When the lives of American citizens are at risk, we will take action,” Obama said. “That’s my responsibility as commander-in-chief.” Well, commander-in-chief, where were you when our amassador Chris Stevens made pleas for help on attacks in Benghazi? President Barack Hussein Obama, you are a pathetic joke.

I thought the Lewistown Borough had an ordinace on high weeds and grass. Who checks this out, the code enforcement? Well, he or she needs to take a ride down Shaw Avenue. I saw a yard there the other day and it looked like a jungle. Is this our tax money at work? I don’t think so.

Democrats. You picked Obama. Is that what you mean by intelligence?

The only reason Hamas hasn’t picked more Israel citizens is because they are lousy shots with their rockets.

In our inclusive democracy, in a general election, any registered Republican or Democrat or independent voter can vote for any person on the ballot. To the “good intelligence” person, could it be possible that you may have a case of a lack of intelligence?

I’d just like to say my daughter also has to drive to school, she plays sports, plays basketball and it is expensive, I mean $50. I guess the guy whose son has to drive to go to work and everything, that probably would make you a little upset when you first heard $50. … $50 seems like a lot for a parking expense, but what are you gonna do? …

I see they mowed the grass in Yeagertown Cemetery. Hallelujah!

You know what happens when you pull your strategic weapons out of Poland like idiot Obama did? You get exactly what Russia’s doing. You get exactly what Mitt Romney said you were gonna get. You should’ve voted Republican in the last presidential election. This world would be a lot safer place. This country would be in a lot better situation than it is.

I think Suze Orman would tell you to have your son pay the $50 to park because it would be a good lesson in the value of money. Also, she’d tell you to stop whining. It costs what it costs, so let it go.

Lewistown Borough must’ve really got their street sweeper fixed up good. You can’t even hear it running.

To Obama, … what a mess you have made. We are on the brink of war. He’s been on vacation since he walked through the doors of the White House and Air Force One has cost us millions of dollars. We are going down the tubes fast. He will not help Israel. That’s where our Lord has left his footprints. America is on the way out. Will he help us? Do we deserve his help? That’s a question that we don’t have an answer to right now, but we will.

I can tell you why Armagh Township doesn’t want to change its meetings time to 6 o’clock. Because that way they don’t have to hear nobody’s complaints.

Good guys with guns abounded on March 30, 1981, mere months into Ronald Reagan’s presidency as Reagan exited the Washington Hilton. The space was thick with police and Secret Service agents all of them alert, armed and well-trained. All together, they were no match for a lone goofball with a gun. Good guys with guns will rarely be a match for a single opponent armed with the element of surprise.

Nancy Pelosi called it this time. Tom Marino really is insignificant.

You people proudly proclaim the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin are your heroes. So don’t even try to tell us Democrats that we lack intelligence.

Mifflin County Youth Fair people need to communicate. They should’ve had the opening ceremonies before judging started. The children were in the judging ring while the opening ceremony is going on and that should not have been. The opening ceremony should have been before the first judging group started.

Israel is really the aggressor in the Gaza Strip situation. They have occupied that land, controlling the people’s goings and comings for 40 years and a few rockets lobbed over into unoccupied space in Israel is not really a bad reaction to that. I think the Israelis should get out. I mean, they plunder the Gaza Strip and we give funding to help it.

You can tell how disgusting the Republican Party is by reading the opinion line. You need to turn off the Fox channel and do something good with your life.

Here we go again, PennDOT’s stone chipping New Lancaster Valley Road. They tried it last year, it didn’t work. What makes them think it’ll work this year? What a waste of money. They could’ve just repaved the whole road.

What is really sad is that Barack Obama has 2 1/2 more years. God help us.

I put in the paper about my son being a senior and driving this year and paying $50 parking and someone put in there “Well, he could ride the bus for free.” Yeah, he could, but he has to be at work right after school and he doesn’t have time to ride the bus home and get to work, that costs him about an hour of work. It’s not that we can’t afford to pay the $50, the point is I think it’s exuberant. I can’t believe $50 for kids to drive to school. That, just, I think is too much. Yeah, we get that he doesn’t have to drive, we get that part, but the kid would like to work and try to make some money after school to get ready for college.

This is to the person that put in the paper that the fire trucks couldn’t get to that fire Saturday because of traffic. That’s ridiculous. I was one of the first responders on one of the first trucks there. We were there in six minutes after that alarm went off. We had trucks, water out, spraying it down. So I don’t know, there may have been some trucks that had trouble getting there after trucks backed up because we had a lot of people backing us up. On the street there was nowhere simply to put your truck, but there was no delay getting to that fire, I can guarantee you that.

Senate, you’ve been on vacation long enough. Get back to Washington and vote on this Republican-run House bill passed for immigration reform. Then get it sent to the president’s desk for signing. At least the Republicans done something before they went on vacation. You can’t say anything like that for the Senate.

It is time for the people of Mifflin County and Pennsylvania to stand up to property tax reform. It’s time for the state legislators to do something. The Sentinel cannot handle any more sheriff’s sales in the paper, it’s just constant. And with the huge tax increase we just endured, it’s time to get on your legislators and not just talk about it.

There were 350 bills passed by the Republican-led House. They were sent to the Senate. Zero passed in the Harry Reid Democratic-held Senate. You tell me who’s hindering America. Looks to me like Harry Reid and the Democrats in the Senate.

I would like to just sympathize with the … kid who pays to drive to school. … Too bad they don’t have a bus that takes them right to the door. Welcome to the real world. …

I’m getting sick and tired of these bleeding heart people in Washington, D.C. and the White House and the media – ABC, CBS, NBC – all saying pity, pity on us for the Hamas when they’re the terrorists. They show what’s happening to them but they never show what they’re doing to Israel. So I think it’s about time that the media quits playing politics and quits defending the Democrats and lets Israel alone and lets Israel do what Isreael’s gonna do with Hamas, and that is hopefully wipe them from the face of the earth.

Well, Obama’s energy plan is finally coming to roost. On Page A3 of The Sentinel (Tuesday), read the proposed rate changes. … That’s all due to his energy plans coming home to roost. I’m glad you all voted for him, now you can pay for him.

Used to be a government by the people, for the people, but with all the taxes, it’s now a government by the rich slamming it to the poor.

All you Democrats out there, show your patriotic duty, just don’t vote on this next election. You lack the good intelligence to do so.

Living in this world is a lot like being run over by a truck. I actually worked with a man years ago who, at the age of 68, was run over and killed by a truck.

I see the Brown Township Supervisors or whoever takes care of Brown Township must be really busy because the lawns are just as high or higher than they were before. I don’t understand what takes so long to bring a lawn mower or a sickle or something over and cut down the weeds. I can’t understand that. We pay enough taxes out here to be able to get at least the yards cleaned up and the roads.

I’ll tell you why I’m a misguided, gun-loving jealous person, because I’m sick and tired of being taken advantage of. I’m tired of giving handouts, especially to people that don’t deserve it. I don’t have the money to keep giving out and giving out. That’s why I’m the way I am.

I saw the other day where somebody said Jimmy Carter gave the Panama Canal away. I never knew we owned it. We constructed it along with an agreement with the country of Panama and we returned what we had back to Panama, but I didn’t know we ever owned the Panama Canal or Panama.

I’m retired military of 24 years in the Air Force and I have been dealing with VanZandt Medical Center for over 18 years. So far, I have not had one problem with them. All my scheduling times have been perfect. There was times I had conflictions on dates or changes. They were really happy to take care of me. I had no problems at all. And when they diagnosed certain things, they came up right to the T. And now I hear other people saying about “Oh my goodness, this VA hurt them or that hurt them.” Well this place here, I’ve yet to hear one veteran say one bad thing about the place.

I just received my property taxes. Such a horrendous increase. The school board person should not be allowed to slam us like that. No wonder so many people are losing their homes.

I would like to have a family doctor that would spend at least five percent of her time looking at me and not 95 percent of the time looking at the computer.

I just saw the head buffoon in Washington on TV, ridiculing the GOP for not doing anything. He has been in Washington for six years and hasn’t done anything but push Obamacare.

I am listening to my scanner and I am hearing that the firetrucks can’t get to the barn fire because of the traffic. I think its ridiculous when people follow these firetrucks and impede the firemen doing their job. They should be fined and fined heavy for doing this.

In regards to school parking, $50 is a lot, but he is more than welcome to ride the bus for free.

August 1. Typical first of the month. All of the creatures of the night came out.

I visited the Yeagertown Cemetery the other day and it is in terrible shape. It has not been mowed or anything. I wonder who was in charge of it. It’s a disgrace. And then across from that there’s another property that the grass hasn’t been mowed all year and it looks terrible. I think somebody needs to do something about it. How about the zoning officer getting after these people?

Hamas is a democratic-elected organization in the Gaza Strip. This may be true but this does not give them the right to lob shells over into Israel. The terrorists in the Gaza Strip has killed as many civilians in Israel as Israel has killed in the Gaza Strip. You can’t expect for people to go ahead and keep taking and taking without giving back.

I’d just like to comment on running back Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens getting a two-game suspension for punching his fiancee, knocking her out and attempting to drag her out of the elevator while she’s totally unconscious. He gets a two-game suspension. Well, I guess Ray Rice can just be glad it wasn’t his dog that he hit in the elevator and drug out because then he would’ve probably got a year’s suspension like Michael Vick did or maybe two years. But seeing it was just his girlfriend, and I guess it’s OK for guys to treat women like that, a two-game suspension I guess is adequate.

PennDOT, if you’re planning on chipping tar on Honey Creek Road, don’t even bother. It’s just a big waste of money and a waste of time. It does absolutely nothing to help the road.?It’s garbage.

I’d like to know where Mifflin County School District thinks we’re at. My son’s getting his license this year, he’s a senior, driving to school. $50 for a parking pass. You gotta be kidding me! And then, if a lot of kids drive … they gotta park down in Highland Park. I’d like to know what the teachers have to pay to park their … car up there. And if they’re not paying anything, then I think they should go down below and park in Highland Park and walk.

Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, both disasters as secretary of state.

C’mon Pat Toomey, why aren’t you standing up screaming at the top of your lungs at this administration for funding Hamas against our ally Israel? It’s terrorists that killed 3,000 people in 2001. Don’t you people get it? It’s the terrorists that hate Israelis and Americans.

Why do smokers feel it’s OK to stand right in front of the hospital doors to walk in? Why do you guys think the smoke doesn’t go inside when someone opens the door up? Why do you think we want to walk through your smoke to get inside of the hospital? And on top of that, you’re not supposed to be smoking on hospital grounds. I think they should fine these people $500 each.

Some people should re-examine their own life choices to discover what made them a person who is jealous of those who earn more money, fearful of children who speak Spanish and misguided enough to love guns more than they love people.

I’m calling in regards to … where the House approved suing Obama. Granted, the president has not done a good job, he has not worked for the good of the country. But House Republicans and Senate Democrats, you need to stop crybabying and work for the good of the people who elected you to do a job for our country. … We could take John Doe off of the street to do a better job in the House of Representatives and the Senate and the presidency than we have now.

Giving work permits to millions of illegal aliens and allowing them to stay in this country is not good for America. Barack Obama is a complete fool and needs to be stopped.

Impeachment: To charge a public official before a competent tribunal of misconduct in office. Fits Barack Hussein Obama like a glove.
