Thanks to many for JHS prom, after-prom party

To the editor:

Another Juniata High School Prom has come and gone. It’s so hard to believe how time has passed. Even harder to believe is how generous our local business owners are year in and year out to the youth of our community. Well over 190 students attended the all-night function, and it was extremely successful. Words cannot express how thankful we are for the support we received from the community. It is our hope that the after prom can continue a successful run for years to come.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Harshbarger’s Sub and Malt for partnering with us for a fundraiser; to Zimmerman Truck Lines/ Mark Zimmerman, your support and generosity was outstanding.

In addition to the donors we would like to thank the parents who gave up their time to work on organizing the after prom as well as chaperoning the event. Thanks to: Tim and Vicki Marrone, Vance and Wendy Varner, Gina Reichard, Zina Ruble, Joel and Jill Swartz, Mark Zimmerman, Dan and Leslie Ames, Bob and Kim Becker, Dennis and Michele Bishop, Angie Searer, Denise Wagner, Glenda Leister, Kevin and Lynette Armstrong, Joe Knepp, Michele Leonard, Nancy Brackbill, Tammy Nealman, Nathan and Tammy Swartz, Tammy Brackbill, Angie Searer and Dianna Kint.

A job well done to Jill Swartz, Leslie Ames and Vicki Marrone for a beautiful prom walkway. Special thanks to Tim Marrone and Dan Ames for constructing the platform and dock posts. Thank you to Dennis Bishop, Joel Swartz, Bob Becker, Mark Zimmerman, Joe Knepp, Tim Marrone, and Dan Ames for all of your hard work in building the sand dunes and the board walk as the students walked in. Thank you to Kevin Long for the sand for the walkway. Thank you to Roxie Guiser for the use of your sound system.

Special thanks to Rick Baublitz, Mark Merritts, Chris Rice, and Harvey Lauver for providing parking security for the evening. Our gratitude goes out to Bob St. Clair for introducing each couple as they walked into the prom, as well as Olivia Varner and Josie Swartz, who helped hand out index cards to aid with introductions. Thank you to the Juniata Little Indians and the Port Royal Lions Club for the use of the french fryers. Thanks to the JCSD Board of Directors and Mr. Apple for allowing us to hold the event in the high school. Thanks to Sharon Storey for assisting us at the high school. Last, but not least, thanks to the students who were mannerly, respectful, and well-behaved. We were proud to host such a classy group of students during a wholesome night of fun. Thanks for sharing it with us.
