Civil War group thanks community for support

To the editor:

The Fifth Annual Sparks In The Park event had a wonderful turn out from the community. We thank the public for coming to see the Battle of the Soup Kettle, demonstrations and quizzing our members on their knowledge of the Civil War.

The 148th Regiment Field Hospital and Venture Crew would also like to thank the following businesses and community members for their support of our annual Sparks In The Park Civil War Reenactment at Kish Park: Derry Township Supervisors for use of the camp ground and pavilion, Derry Township Fire Police, Brannon & Royer, Captain Jack’s Distributing, Burnham Lions Club, Vince’s Pizza, Ralph Lincoln, WKVA and WCHX radio, John Smolcic Dental Office, Campbell & Pine Orthodonics, Bosserts Hardware, Burnham Hardware, Greater Vision Eye Associates, Middleswarth Chips, Quality Inn & Suites, Advance Auto Parts, and The (Lewistown) Sentinel.

A special thank you to the East Juniata High School students who came for Student Day; it was great doing battle with you!

And thanks to all the members of the 148th Venture Crew who worked so hard to raise funds for this year’s events by washing cars, selling lollipops, candy bars and standing in the cold for tag day. You are a wonderful group of young adults and the reason for this event.

Thank you once again for all your support.
