Pro-life group to discuss politics at town meeting

To the editor:

The United States will shortly enter into two years of political in-fighting for the right to govern its citizens. It will be important for the citizenry to determine which candidate best fits our philosophies, our ethics and our morals. As we have mentioned in the past it is important for us to know how the candidate would vote if they were faced with a vote on gay marriage, abortion, euthanasia and stem cells issues.

Unfortunately many candidates from one party promote intrinsic evil which refers to actions that are morally evil in such a way that is essentially opposed to the will of God or proper human fulfillment. That party abhors the will of God so much they didn’t want to include God in their platform. They preferred to contribute tax money to Planned Parenthood for more abortions. In reviewing their voting record is it any wonder why Satanism has become an issue of great concern in our society. It is a phenomena that crosses the city limits into the rural areas of our nation. To help us gain a balanced perspective of the subject, C. S. Lewis in his book “Screwtape Letters” says this about Satan:

“There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe and to feel an unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.”

The last phrase, “a materialist or a magician with the same delight” certainly would fit that party’s mission statement.

I believe that today one of the political parties “disbelieves in their existence.” Unfortunately many of the members of that party are Catholic and those Catholics fail in their Catholicism. The encyclical entitled “Evangelium Vitae,” meaning “The Gospel of Life,” was promulgated on 25 March 1995 by Pope John Paul II in Rome, Italy. The document was written to reiterate the view of the Roman Catholic Church on the value of life and to warn against violating the sanctity of life. The document focuses on right to life issues including abortion, birth control, and euthanasia, but also touches on other concepts relevant to embryology,

“The Gospel of Life” certainly is not on the minds of those party members who make up their party. The last party member who was for ‘The Gospel of Life,” was Gov. Robert Casey. And we all know Gov. Casey was ostracized by his party due to his pro-life stand.

Unless their party repents and lives by “The Gospel of Life,” the intrinsic evil that pervades our country will continue. And we know what intrinsic evil has done to societies in the past. Hitler’s Nazi Germany, Benito Mussolini’s Italy, Caesar’s Rome and Stalin’s Russia are examples.

To start the election process the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation will be having a pro-life town hall meeting 7-9 p.m. on April 29 at the Burnham Quality Inn, Burnham. It will be free and open to discussion. Come and participate

The political process and pro-life’s efforts in that process will be discussed.
