  • I didn’t see any nut carrying a gun at Kid Connection. I just saw a few nut cases smoking and a few people that had to bring their dogs to show off to everyone. Other than that, Kid Connection was great. I would like to thank the people who made the effort and made a great day for the kids.

Editor’s note: Local authorities have not issued any report to The Sentinel regarding anyone unlawfully carrying a firearm during Kid Connection.

  • Charity in my opinion is a very private thing. To put a toilet in someone’s yard and force them to pay you to take it off their lawn, it’s just being a bully. Forcing them to give money is like a terrorist. It’s just not appropriate.

Editor’s note: The purple toilet, which is being used as a fundraiser by local Relay For Life team The Cajun Cuties, does not require anyone to pay money. The team states that if a person or business does not wish to donate, it will remove the toilet at no cost.

It’s past time to close down the in-town farms. The constant noise and stink shouldn’t be tolerated by homeowners. Close down all in-town farms, no grandfather exceptions.

This is directed to PennDOT of Lewistown who are the caretakers of the rest stop on top of Seven Mountains. It’s time to open it up and not close it in the wintertime.

United States needs a new president and vice president. The world needs a new president and vice president. The things happening in the world with Russia, with Palestinians and Iran. The world can’t wait 2-3 more years for America to elect a new president. We need to get someone who knows what he’s doing.

And he asked some stuff about church, so I don’t know if he was from a church or whatever, so I would like to thank the man that came up and gave my husband and us and stuff the ham and the church if they were part of it. I really have no idea who did it, but I would like to say we very much appreciated it. Thank you.

This is regarding the comment in the Open Line due to all the men think about eating, sleeping and drinking instead of having a relationship. Whoever wrote that’s got it wrong. We like relationships, but they don’t last too long, so after the birds and the bees all die off, which only takes a little bit after marriage, then that’s when we go into eating, sleeping and drinking.

We want to know what’s in season that the guy up on Alexander Lane on Tuesday morning is dressed in full camo with a rifle crouched behind a tree right along the township road. The neighbors are very nervous and want this guy checked on.

If these oil refineries are running at 100 percent capacity down in the Gulf because of all this fracking going on in America, why isn’t the gas prices coming down at the pump? Those prices should be below $2 a gallon.

Put a Republican in for President of the United States and give the Republicans the Senate with the House and you might as well just fold up America and throw it in the trash can. They will ruin everything we ever stood for.

Well, Obamacare has been in the works for three years, and I’m still waiting for my health care to drop $2,500 for my premium. Oh, wait, that was all a lie, another Obama lie.

I’ve driven in every state in the lower 48 and Pennsylvania has to have the worst roads for trash lying along it. New Jersey is cleaner then Pennsylvania is.

I don’t understand the big deal about the voter photo ID. The elderly and the poor can’t get photo ID? I don’t understand, the elderly get Social Security, and the poor are getting welfare, so they both have to have photo IDs. So if they both have photo IDs what is the big deal?

Our first president could not tell a lie. Our last president could not tell the truth.

This is for the person who stole from God, you stole the same week that he gave to us his son. Please come back to the church and repent for this sin. The money is probably gone by now, you will need more money. Let us give you the greatest gift of life, Jesus Christ. With a job and living for Jesus, your daily needs will be met. No more hiding in the dark, please come back to the church and talk with us.

Is there a church in Lewistown or Lewistown area that’s going to take the time to have a Sunday evening service on Easter? We would love to have a place to attend, but we can’t seem to find any.

Editor’s note: Beth-El Mennonite Church, 1150 Front Mountain Road, Belleville, schedules Easter services Friday-Sunday, April 18-20, starting at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Also 9:30 a.m. Friday and 9:15 a.m. Sunday.

President Obama is saying that the insurance companies are gouging and raising their prices. I just had an annual checkup at Geisinger. I was in the room approximately 32 minutes. A nurse took my blood pressure. I sat and waited for another 10 minutes, the doctor came in, he felt my ankles, pressed on my abdomen, he checked my lymph nodes in my neck, listened with a stethoscope and away I went. Total cost $404 to my insurance company. So, how are the insurance companies raising the rates?

It’s Thursday night, after 7 p.m. and it’s getting dark, and it’s raining very hard here in Mifflin County and all you idiots are out there without your headlights on. Please, for the police officers in this town, ticket these idiots who constantly drive without their lights on, it’s against the law in Pennsylvania if your wipers are on.

Yes, everybody has a right to their religion, unless it infringes on somebody else’s. I cannot stand horse and buggies on a road, especially when it’s dark and raining. Horse and buggies are becoming obsolete.

Concerning the Amish, take a ride up the Back Mountain Road from Milroy to Barrville in your car on a wet day and see what happens to you when you hit those grooves in the middle of the road. It’s called hydroplaning, and I do pay taxes for the road, probably close to $1 a gallon soon, to put gas in my car. My tires are rubber, not steel-rimmed wheels …

So, Republicans are extremists and liars. Well, have you noticed that nothing is more extreme than Obamacare? Also, Obama was named liar of the year for 2013. You really need to start getting your news from a different source.

Somebody said that Paul Ryan’s proposed budget would reduce our spending on some programs. He doesn’t like Paul Ryan’s plan. Kindly, explain to us how we can continue spending money that we must borrow, and still not go broke. Do you know or care that the average family of four now owes the government close to $220,000? If you or an individual spend $10,000 and must borrow $4,000 of that $10,000, how can you survive? You can’t and neither can the government. Period.

Wow, Pinocchio’s at it again. He had a news conference about Obamacare yesterday and President Obama said he signed up 7 million people. But he didn’t tell you that he canceled 6 million people’s insurance and I was one of them. And I had to sign back up. So how many new insurance claims did he sign up? It’s a wonder his nose ain’t six feet long because he doesn’t know how to tell the truth.

Republicans who support the national congressmen, like Paul Ryan who rolled out his budget today, take note: His budget would eliminate Medicare, individual payments, and just put it in a block grant, which would greatly limit payment. And he would be cutting all kinds of other things, education, so on, that people are trying to strive for. He said once he is a follower of Ayn Rand, look it up and that will tell you a lot about Paul Ryan.

Republicans would be speechless if you took away their ability to lie. Extremism is alive and well in conservative circles …

I would just like to tell the people, please let the Amish alone. They don’t do nothin’ to deserve your rudeness and also they don’t drink and drive. So please let the Amish alone.

People complaining about the Amish they pay their taxes, they have the same rights you do on the road. If you can show me how much you pay in taxes to help support the road, then I’d like to see it. But as far as the Amish, you probably do more wear and tear than they do and they aren’t out that much. And besides, they have a right to their religion and that’s part of their religion. So if you don’t like it, move.

Think about it: PETA’s coming for you. They’re coming for you.

I see where they said that 6 million people had signed up for Obamacare. What happened to the other 24-25 million that they passed Obamacare to begin with? And what about the 6 million that lost their insurance? So, I think they’re breaking even right about now. … They had a man on TV today that was a Democrat that said they signed up 13 million people. I don’t know where he got his numbers from but run, Democrats, run.

I’m calling in disagreement to the $132 a quarter for the sewer in Derry Township. My wife and I work eight to 10 hours a day, are away from home that whole time, do not use the restrooms at all, yet families of six and seven that have four or five children at home using the system… It should be on the amount of people in the home or by the water used. This rate is totally unsatisfactory.

I live in Milford Township in Juniata County in the Rockville area. My sewer bill for three months is $195 and this is beyond ridiculous. I don’t know how we could get any relief. I’ve been on a fixed income for 23 years and it definitely is over and above ridiculous.
