National Library Week is the perfect time to visit

To the editor:

During the week of April 13-19, communities across the country celebrate National Library Week, a time to remind everyone about the contributions libraries, librarians and library workers make to their communities.

“Lives change at your library” is the fitting theme for this year’s National Library Week celebration. Libraries of all types serve as community leaders, offering opportunities for children and adults alike to learn, grow and achieve their dreams. In addition to providing access to books, e-books, computers and other resources, public, school, academic and special libraries offer expert teaching and guidance to aid library users in their quest to open new worlds and change their lives.

Libraries have historically served as our nation’s great equalizers of knowledge, providing free access to information for all people. Today’s libraries continue this tradition, helping level the playing field by making both print and digital information affordable, available and accessible to all people. The range of information and services available to library users is unlimited with information and pleasure reading material available 24/7 at

National Library Week is the perfect time to remember when it is time to make a change and improve your life, the place to be is at your library. The Mifflin County Library Board of Directors, staff and friends thank the community for its continued support and we make changes to better serve all residents of Mifflin County.
