Survivor grateful for medical care, blood drive

To the editor:

A simple thank you seems inadequate. On Jan 16, the Ellen Chapel Church held a blood drive to replace blood used by Mid Zook and myself. While visiting the bloodmobile that day, I met many caring people who are willing to donate their time and blood to strangers.

On June 13, 2013, I survived a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and received 36 units of blood (five in Lewistown and 31 in Danville).

I especially want to thank Sharon Jones for her help in making this blood drive happen. While visiting the canteen, they had great soup and sandwiches that day and I want to thank all those who donated their time and food for this. The Red Cross workers also appreciated this.

I will be ever grateful to Dr. John Garvin of Geisinger Hospital in Danville who kept me alive against all odds. Again I appreciate all you have done to promote this Red Cross Bloodmobile.
