Community effort made Veterans Day parade

On Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 , the Juniata County Veterans Council held their annual Veterans Day Parade in Port Royal, starting at 2 p.m.
The council wants to thank The Juniata County High School Marching Band, The East Juniata County High School Marching band and their directors, cheerleaders, and flag bearers, the Juniata County Sheriff’s department, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 298, Thompsontown Amvets Post 122, Fayette Township EMS, Thompsontown Ambulance Company, Mifflintown Hose Company No.1, Mifflin Fire Dept No.2, Central Juniata EMS, Beale Township Fire Co., Port Royal EMS, Friendship Fire Co. No.1, Port Royal Girl Scout Troop, Cub Scout Packs No. 60 of Mifflintown, No.46 from Port Royal, No.65 from McAlisterville, the Cheer Force All Stars from Lewistown, 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy from Port Royal, and all others who participated in this annual event, as well as the Pa. Department of Transportation and especially the Port Royal Borough for their assistance.
The council would like to thank all the personnel, groups, etc. that have given their time in helping out the Juniata County Veterans Council in their endeavors this past year. The council also wishes to acknowledge the newspaper editors, writers, photographers, etc. from The (Lewistown) Sentinel, The Times, the Juniata Sentinel from Mifflintown, and The Hometown Shopper, Patriot News, Perry County Times, and the Millerstown Shopper for their continued newspaper coverage of various veterans events.
I also want to thank the local radio stations for their continued support. “Dan” at WJUN, Eric Lane at WKVA and Mary Lee at MERF radio.
