Another special day in the books for Burnham
To the editor:
The 19th annual Burnham Community Day has come and gone. It was a beautiful day for the emotional dedication of the Vietnam Memorial in the Beech Street Circle. Burnham is proud that the Vietnam Veterans of Chapter 791 chose our town for this beautiful memorial.
Thanks to the vendors of food and crafts for supporting our event. Thanks to those who participated in the baking contest and the judges for doing the tasting task. Also, thanks to Burnham Fire Company for giving us a place to hold the contest.
The community day kickoff was sponsored by Burnham United Methodist Church, with good food and music the previous evening.
The Sentinel and County Observer published articles to announce the event. Advertisers supported the event with their ads. They included Standard Steel Credit Union, Juniata Valley YMCA, Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Burnham Hardware, Logan House, Bohn Furniture, and Mifflin-Juniata County Link. You are all greatly appreciated.
The committee appreciates the businesses that supported our raffle with prizes. Purchasers of the raffle tickets are also appreciated for this fundraiser. The winners were: Connie Reigle, gift certificate from Burnham Hardware; Sue Daubert, gift certificate from the Logan House; Patty Wilson, 2014 Burnham Pool membership; Jeff Farrell, YMCA youth membership; Kerri Laird, LED outdoor spotlight from Bushmen Landscaping; Marj McCardle, gift certificate from Tanning Cabana of Mifflintown;
